About the Conference

We are proud to announce that the University of California, Santa Cruz is hosting the 5th annual West Coast Conference for Undergraduate Women in Physics on January 15-17, 2010. The conference is open to female undergraduate physics majors in the western United States and will be held simultaneously with conferences at Ohio State University, Duke University, and Yale University.

This annual event was inspired by the University of Southern California after they hosted the first Undergraduate Women in Physics Conference in January of 2006. Last year, the University of Southern California, University of Michigan, and Yale held simultaneous conferences, and it was a huge success!

The three-day conference will expose undergraduates to contemporary research by women in the emerging frontiers of physics as well as the various career paths for physicists in academia, industry, and government. Attendees will also have the opportunity to tour the laboratories located at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Discussions regarding various resources available to young female scientists as well as the challenges women face will be covered. Furthermore, a graduate student panel will allow undergraduates to ask questions with regard to the pursuit of higher degrees in physics or other science fields.

Registration for the 2010 Conference is now CLOSED!

This years' conference will have about 80 participants, thank you all for registering! Registration is closed.
